The Challenge
UnSound Festival at the Manggha Centre of Japanese Art and Technology required advanced projection systems that would enable VJs to create synchronised visualisations across multiple screens simultaneously. The systems had to be flexible and responsive to the VJs' artistic needs in real time.
The Manggha Centre's interior posed additional requirements — ceiling-mounted projectors, complete video cabling routed through the historic venue, and professional signal processing equipment to give artists full control over multi-screen projection in real time.
Our Solution
We supplied portable fast-fold screens for front projection, creating a multi-screen visual setup tailored to the festival space. Epson FullHD projectors were ceiling-mounted for optimal throw angle, eliminating obstructions in the projection path.
We ran all the necessary video cabling connecting the projectors to the VJ stations. Video mixers, signal splitters and video processors gave the artists full control over distributing and processing the image across all screens in real time.
Scope of Work
Projection & infrastructure:
Supply and installation of fast-fold screens for front projection. Ceiling-mounting of Epson FullHD projectors with precise geometry calibration. Complete video cabling throughout the festival space.
VJ equipment & signal processing:
Video mixers for real-time source mixing. Configuration of splitters and video processors for multi-screen signal distribution. Collaboration with VJs to adapt stations to their workflow.

The Result
UnSound Festival VJs had a complete professional projection setup at their disposal — from fast-fold screens and ceiling-mounted FullHD projectors to video mixers, splitters and processors at their workstations. The multi-screen configuration enabled them to create synchronised visualisations and experiment creatively with imagery in real time.
Complete video cabling and precise equipment calibration ensured flawless operation throughout the entire festival. Close collaboration with VJs on station configuration resulted in a unique visual identity that became an integral part of the UnSound Festival experience at the Manggha Centre.
“The multi-screen projection systems created an extraordinary space for our VJs to experiment visually. Planer Studio perfectly understands the specifics of music festivals and the needs of visual artists.”
